On the actual purposes of furniture:
Desk: dirty sweater pile accumulation. Desk chair: computer pedestal for watching Hulu, next to bed. Bed: dining (cf. this) / school work. Dining table: surface for school work / dirty dish accumulation. Couch: sleeping. Floor: storing garbage / a comfortable place to rest, at times.
